in those days( 1995 ) most high performance balls from brunswick were wetsanded 600 grit and placed in the lustrekleen machine for a minute or two----the sapphire blue zone was no exception. i would wetsand it to 600 grit and apply brunswicks rough buff. that would pretty much duplicate the original finish.

I don't have any rough buff.  I have a 2000 grit abralon pad, but I just started using them and I am not sure if the grit I want is ever the grit that comes out.  I tried 4000 grit on a Black Widow and it seemed pretty dull for 4000 grit.

"Hand-made" 4.000 Abralon really looks dull compared to the OOB finish of most balls. But give it some games, and the ball will take on the glossy look of the machine-finished OOb balls.
