Best Ball for Pin Axis Drill?
« on: January 11, 2006, 04:10:29 PM »
I recently drilled an old Dynothane Black Vendetta with a 1/2" pin-axis distance, and so far love the reaction on the short patterns we bowl on in my sport league. I was wondering what everyone would recommend for a Brunswick replacement of that ball, as it is old and plugged and I just prefer to throw Brunswick.

I have the ball at 1000 grit, no hole, cg in center of grip. I would prefer to stay with a lower differential / solid ball, but nothing outrageously strong. I was looking at the Nemesis, but I've seen that ball make a more aggressive move than I think I want out of the ball. Something just very rolly and even is what I'm looking for.

Thanks for your help!

With a pin-axis drilling, the ball should not move much at all? But twoheadedboy is right, there is nothing really in the big B line-up that would fit your bill. I'd also tend to a Nemesis, even though it is a med RG ball. The Ultimate Inferno would be a good match, but probably too much ball and too expensive for what you want to do with the ball. Another idea could be an Ambush. Pearl, yes, but with a light particle load - smooth and with good grip, maybe even cleaner through the front end than a sanded Nemesis.

Other option which you can still find NIB are the Monster Bruiser (lower RG, should be what you are looking for) and the Red Alert LTD, an overseas ball.
The current Majestic Zone II might also fill the bill, but it has a strong coverstock and the high-differential core from the Raging Red Fuze.
