scorchin is 600 out of the box so green scotch brite would be just about right to use. I had to take mine too 1000 abralon and rough buff it to get it too roll like i wanted it too. I do notice it polishes up quite fast like you described even with the rough buff finish, so about every 15-20 games if you like 600 you might too clean it and hit it with the green scotchbrite pad.

Sammbo generally everything with a cover at one end of the extremes whether its dull or shiny will require maintenance to keep it that way.  I have a Rule Delta 1 that I clean after almost every set with Clean and Dull by gently rubbing with a green scotchbrite pad.  The only maintenance you have to do to the ball is what you choose to do.  If you like the way it rolls with a little shine, keep it that way.
