Any down and in strokers throw the ZC?
« on: December 21, 2005, 01:17:51 AM »
I just ask because what I've heard of Brunswick equipment in general is that they have a strong mid-lane read and more of an "arc" than, say, a skid/flip.  I don't know if that would really translate well to my down and in style, but for some reason the Zone Classic is really appetizing to me.  I don't know what it is, but I'm just drawn to this ball.    Any thoughts on this?

The CZ is my down and in ball.  I recommend it.

get it right now!  This my ball when all else fails, just move right and it makes a nice smooth arc to the pocket. The carry is excellent! Shot 289 about a month ago with this same ball.

a down and in shot is my "a" game and i thought the zone clasic was great. shot my all-time high series with it---847( 289-289-269 ) last year. this is a very versatile ball. i was able to use an end over end roll to play the outside line and was able to move in and swing the ball with some side turn---both worked great.

Shoot I need another ZC.  I rough buffed mine last night for a particular condition and was extremely happy with the results.  I need another one to keep polished.

It's kind of off topic, but it's my topic anyhow.    What does an "end over end" roll promote?  I'm still new to altering delivery, but I have done this a couple of times to try to get the ball to hold longer if it was hooking too much for the condition.  Did I just get lucky, or is this what delivering a more end over end roll is supposed to do?

It will get the ball rolling earlier and usually promotes less jump off the spot. (Dry) Sometimes when you get over/under just changing to this type of roll can help. That answer can be somewhat suspect as the amount of axis rotation can also impact the change of direction. (end over end to me = less tilt)

when i say an end over end roll i mean a roll with very little side turn and not much axis rotation----say 20-25 degrees. when there is oil in the heads and the backends are dry this type of roll can result in great striking power from the outside line. walter ray williams, jr. is the master at this release---norm duke is a close second. chris barnes also excels at this type of release. most contemporary players do not have this shot in their bag.

speed control is very important. too little ball speed and the ball will roll out. the speed must be kept up for this reason. i don't have a problem with carry using this type of release. for me, carry is a matter of making a good shot.
