Screwed on Ebay, or Not?

This ball has cracking by the pin about a 1/4in in two directions. Seller did not disclose this in the text of the add, his response was that it shows in the picture. I saw the pictures of the drilling and the ball, never focused on the pin for cracking, didn't think I had to. Should I be angry or am I making a big deal out of nothing? Says he'll refund the $6.52 I paid for the ball, but none of the $25 I paid for shipping. Other than the cracking ball looks great new inserts and I would be good to go. Bought a lot balls on Ebay, but never encountered this.

Your only recourse might be to leave a bad review. Otherwise, is it worth the hassle? You paid $6.25 for a ball. A cracked pin is not a big deal.

You can file a claim with ebay and paypal. They do cover original shipping now in some cases. You may be successful; ebay does tend to side with buyers over sellers, even when the seller has a better case.

you were lucky this time that it was only 6.52,the low price should have sent a red flag,i would say buyer beware so the next guy does not get took

What you could do, is have a pro shop guy take a drill bit big enough to cover the cracking and drill down about 1/4 inch and fill it with clear plug.  It is a simple process and should only take a day to do it.  While unfortunate that this happened to you, I believe it can be fixed.  If successful, you wont hardly notice anything wrong and the plug will come out looking like the same color as the rest of the ball.  Just an idea.

Being that you will have to pay another $25 to ship it back, save the money and get it fixed.  Other than the cracked pin, the ball looks to be (in the photo anyway) in great condition.  Leave a negative feedback with an explanation so that other buyers know to be aware, and for the seller to disclose things and not try to hide them.

I have to agree with Ari & the others here. $7 even +$32 for brand new, undrilled ball is almost theft.
Have your driller, drill out the pin and refill it. Remember on Brunswick balls, the pin is very shallow, only going as far as the shell. Once I redrilled a ball that had the pin in the ring finger. When I saw his plug job, he put a different color filling where the ring finger was; so I knew and it showed exactly where the pin had been. I'm sure your driller can do the same for a couple of dollars extra. 
 
If you had paid $75 or more for it, then I'd return it and/or file a claim with Ebay/Paypal. He should have mentioned it. It's hardly visible in the picture to me. But for $30 delivered?? It's a waste of your time and energy.

You could file a claim with Ebay saying the description of the ball was not accurate and the cracked pin was not disclosed. Ebay might refund your money plus shipping and you do not have to return the ball. Or they might refund your money plus shipping and Ebay might pay to return the ball to the seller. I have had both of these situations happen to me on Ebay. Or you could just have the crack in the pin repaired but it should have been disclosed.

You can see the cracked pin when you use the zoom feature!!! I use the zoom when looking at used bowling balls!!! See if you like the roll of the ball and if it's a keeper have the pin plugged as Charlest suggested!!!

 


Train a child up in the way they should go and when they are old they will do some "Damn Good Bowling", be a "DV8" and not turn from it, besides bowling starts with a Big B!

People worry too much about things these days.

 

 I got a cracked Inferno once. Had it drilled to stop the crack, then plugged the crack and fixed it. It is the ONLY ball I've ever shot an 800 with.

 

 Fix the ball and throw it. If your driller is worth his salt, he can fix it easily.

Brunswick Battle Zone Cannon 16lbs bowling ball. One Drill. Span is right around 4 3/4" and 4 3/4".  Well taken care of and in good condition. Ball is sold as is no returns .


There is a very important line in this "Ball is sold as is no returns"

You are out 30 bucks. I wouldnt worry about it. Pins can crack its not the end of the world.
