Johnny Petrag Zone
« on: August 01, 2005, 06:20:13 AM »
This was was a particle pearl circa around year 2000. Does anyone have one and is it basically a riot zone. I just cam into possession of one in real good shape and looking for a bit of info. Yes, i already looked on bowlingballreviews.com for specs. Any info appreciated.

This ball was an attempt to copy the Sapphire Zone.

Didn't seem as durable but was very good for some.

Have a friend who still uses one.  Seems a little jumpier than the older sapphires I saw.

Pure reactive!
PK 17.  I found very strong and a peppy backend.  Too much for me!

PS here's sapphire zone data

You sure that's not the Parker Bohn MVP that you're thinking about?

There was a Silver Particle Pearl one with Black Engraving.  It was a Riot Zone cover with an Impact Zone Core.  High R.G. Med Diff.

Yes, but it was the Open ball, not a Johnny Petraglia Zone. Tons of people are still using it. I think it was a run of about 3000 for the Pro Am, YEARS ago. They had lots of them left over.

Sorry yes it was the JP open ball. It was silver and black lettered. Had a guy who fit the spans try it last night it had a decent read and move. Seemed to go a little longer than Riot Zone but as DPS stated it is a high RG. Thanks for the info. For the price ($0)it is a keeper for a toy or resell.
