I don't know how strict they would be on that. I drilled a PG, pin above bridge and it tracked over the thumb. I contacted BrunsRicH and he worked it out to replace the ball for me. I was only out additional shipping costs.

Looked at my Absolute today and there were no chips or marks in it. I agree with everyone about taking it to your shop person to get their opinion.

Technically, you also void the warranty by drilling any hole within one inch of the riser pin, or by not sufficiently beveling the drilled holes. However, I've yet to see a warranty claim refused because of any of these issues.

As for the ball, why would you accept a ball with small defects? You paid good money for it and deserve a non defect products. This brings up a great question the Brunswick booth couldn't answer at ABC's. How come Brunswick doesn't have X-out balls? Are they the only ones to make all of their balls perfect? I heard from other pro shops that they never had x-out balls and sell them for the normal price with or without defects.

That's funny!
I found out this week why that is: the riser pin on Brunswick balls is just a marker. I wanted the pin precisely between the finger holes. My driller did that and we saw a huge void about 3/4" below the cover. On my other ball that I drilled the same, a Columbia Messenger Ti, the pin is the top of a plastic dowel that holds and is attached to the core, and is used to hold the core during the pour of the coverstocks around the core, as I had originally learned.
Seems the pin on Brunswick ball is just a marker at the top.
I was worried about the huge void between the finger holes, but driller said the ball is and will be fine.

Long ago, I had a C/Beast, drilled with the pin just above the ring finger. One night when I was bowling league, I felt something rattling near the bottom of my ring finger hole. Turned out that the ring finger hole had been drilled into the bottom of the pin, and that part of the pin had broken off and fallen into the finger hole. It was about 1 1/2" inches long, orange, and round at the bottom. I think I still have it around here somewhere; I'll have to see if I can hunt it up.
