Sidewinder trouble...
« on: March 28, 2010, 02:15:32 PM »
I have this sidewinder here I recieved from a staffer who hated it...had about 6 games on it righty..i plugged it and drilled it (lefty) and i absolutely hate it OOB...I was wondering if anyone has had success with this ball sanded..The grips have never fit me right, so ive never thrown it...this ball is  literally BRAND NEW and I was going to see if i got the grips replaced and did a surface change if i would like it..

What do you hate about it?  What are you looking for out of it?
How is it drilled?
Is it the hybrid particle version?.. I heard they put some out without particle..

How can you hate it if you've never thrown it?

How can you say that you hate it if you haven't used it that much?  As for the grips never fitting, that is not an issue with the ball but how it was drilled.  What were you looking to get out of this bowling ball?  Did you work with your Pro Shop guy to lay it out for what you expected in this ball?  I have a Sidewinder, and it is such a good ball for medium oil conditions.  It doesn't over-react because of the particles in the coverstock.  The OOB finish has rough buff on it which allows it to get down the lane like a polish.  Please expain further why you hate it?

Know many who did not like that ball with the Ruff Buff finish but loved it at 2000 grit sanded. But agree with the others, how can you dislike the ball not having thrown it? Put the correct grips in and toss it a couple of times.

It was going too long and never had enough to get back to the pocket...i have a  very odd drilling on it and i think that dulling it down will help things out..I have sanded it down to 360 to clean it up a bit and hit it with 2000 abralon..i will be bringing it to the shop on thurs to get proper grips put in and we will see how it goes.

Dulling it will get it into a roll sooner. It also helps to have the ball and grips properly fit your hand as well. Mot people throw a new ball a game and decide they don't like it for whatever reason. Most balls after having 5-10 games really come to life. So keep that in mind as well.
