What if nobody ever had a Smash Zone before like me?  How would somebody get a good review of the new release of the Python.  In my experience of 1 day throwing my Python, it is a very strong and angular bowling ball.  I think that it was drilled 60x5"x45 using the dual angle method.  Its a lot stronger than I thought it would be which is a good thing.

The drilling of the ball will only have a small affect on the overall reaction of the ball.  The cover make up most of the reaction.  Don't get me wrong you'll see a difference but nothing monumental.  You'll see a far bigger impact if you had a out of box python comparing it to your dulled smash zone or something like that.

Unless you have 2 - 3 surfaces on 2 different drillings, a ball reviews is virtually totally useless.

Drill the same ball: one with pin on pap and the other at 5" away and tell me there is no monumental difference. It's day and night.

Please let me know where you are located so that I never come to you to get a ball drilled. If drilling has such a small effect on reaction please explain to me why the ball manufactueres include a drill sheet with each ball that shows what kind of reaction to expect with each drill pattern.

well i think that the core makes a difference for the first half of the lane and the coverstock for the other half. yeah i know that if you drill a ball with the pin on pap and another one, but the same exact ball, at 5 inches it will be the opposite. but for example, drill a storm fast, furious and natural all with the same layout and tell me what you see. they all have the same core but different coverstock and their reaction are totally different. but on the other side put different layout on them and maybe you ll be able to have  similar reactions. i would say that you are both right on some points.i know that usbc have made plenty of research about that (rg number, diff,coverstock,....) so there is probably something interesting to read about that debate!

I have no problem debating what I have seen and believe about bowling with anyone, but when comments like some of the above do not add meaningful information to the debate it makes it harder to get information out to all the people the frequent this site.  I do think you will see some difference from different pin to positive axis length but in the big picture your really only making a minimal change.  Your are going to get the biggest difference from changing the coverstock, and the example of the fast, furious, and natural is the perfect example.  I'm not going to sit here and name call or discredit anyone who also posts on this site but I will only continue to respond to people that bring something positive to the table.
Thank you
