Similar reaction to Vapor Zone
« on: March 16, 2009, 03:18:28 AM »
But just a tad cleaner at the front... that’d be the Ultra Zone, right?

Thanks.

(For those who have both, which one do you prefer?)

The Ultra is a hybrid so it should be a little earlier than the Vapor.

Try the Rattler. Definitely clean through the heads with a big turn late.

The Vapor Zone was a real favorite, but I can honestly say that the Rattler is equally as good for me.

Bowlingball.com has a FOCUS ZONE that is very similar to my Vapor zone. The Focus has a little more mid lane, with a very predictable back end. I LOVE them both. the don

Thanks for the replies.

The Rattler has been on my ‘to-buy-list’ ever since it was launched!

Focus Zone - it is just Blast Zone with Rough Buff, right?

The reason I asked about the Ultra Zone, is that I thought EnMotion is a lot cleaner then Activator. I have got the Twisted Fury Pearl, and it’s a lot longer than my Vapor, and has a very strong backend WHEN it hits the dry part of the lane. With its easy length, it’s a great ball for me in short pattern with clean backend, but it does need friction otherwise it doesn’t do much. Great ball though, I have shot some nice series with my TFP.

I’ll investigate the MoRich option.

Thanks again.

The FOCUS ZONE is a Blast zone core with a ACTIVATOR cover. The bigger core does move the ball more in the mid lane, but the activator cover keeps the ball consistently smoother than the activator PLUS cover on the Vapor. don

I agree. I've had both and they had a very similar reaction. The AF was a bit more skip/flip.

Actually Focus is exactly the same ball with Blast with activator hybrid on it. Surface prep is rough buff instead..

For me, with similar cover preps & drillings, Blast is touch smoother than Vapor. Blast handles carry down better.

I don't have an Ultra personally. However, if I may share my observations, Ultra seems more continues. With Vapor, you need to move quickly with your feet to follow oil as transition takes place. It tends to loose energy faster in comparison. On the other hand, Ultra seems more versatile, retains its axis rotation relatively longer when playing close to friction.

For the suggestion part:
Twisted Pearl is no way similar to Vapor. Day & night!
Rattler (even the original inferno) is considerably longer and handles less oil.
Ultra is a great alternative.
However, since I very much like my Blast, I would recommend either Blast or Focus with a proper surface prep.

Hope this helps,
