I haven't seen a Slay/R in ages, but the Tropical Storm is too much ball for what I call dry lanes.

hmm, I would say both the ones your considering are still too strong. Maby try a normal PG reactive, or something to that effect. I've bowled on all of those short shots, and I can vouch for the PG's keeping me in the pocket more consistantly and for a longer time.

Slay/R is a great ball, I just recently drilled one for toasty conditions I have seen lately on the PBA stuff. I love how the Monster series rolls!

I kept my layout simple on the Slay/R...

Pin over bridge 5" with a hole on the axis.
