Slingshot solid?
« on: December 31, 2011, 04:03:07 AM »
I'd really like to see Brunswick come out with a Slingshot solid coverstock!!! I use a pin down Slingshot a lot on houseshots and wish the Big B would release a solid coverstock!!! Just my $.02, Bruce

Personally, I would not think that a solid SS would sell well. At the entry level, it is much about visual appeal, and unless you make it a bright solid ball with attractive colours, I doubt that the ball would be a winner. At least, as a special purpose piece. The solid PGs disappeared quietly, and the Avanalche Solid, which would come close to such a piece (yet with better traction due to PK18), also did not seem to fare well. I'd also see it too close to the pearl balls to warrant such a special piece, even if it came sanded?

The balls I use the most is the Revolver, Wicked Siege, Loaded Revolver, Slingshot. The Massive Damage and Damage doesn't get that much use cause when I can use them I like the Loaded Revolver in that spot better. The Wicked is a step above and when I see more oil I use the Revolver over the Nexus solid. When the shot opens I can go to the Slingshot and have used the Wicked week before last I used the Wicked on the left lane and the Slingshot on the right lane and shot 278, with a 9 pin in the 8th frame and a 10 pin on the fill ball! I bowl at three different houses in three different towns and our house shot is Kegel's Stone Street 42' pattern. The other two houses are very wet/dry and shorter patterns. The Karmas, Damage line for me are so close that they waste spots in my bag that I don't take them to tournaments. The Revolver line and Siege line has been the best for me and I don't use the Nexus line a lot cause I find the Revolver and Siege to match up better. The Siege line has been my favorite and of course Brunswick wants us to use current line equipment, but when I invest in a tournament I'm going to use what will work best for me to win!!!

I have a Purple Rhino Pro solid which has the same Rg diff as the Slingshot; it rolls nothing like my sanded Slingshot although it is not PK17 or PK18 so perhaps that doesn't prove too much;) With the same layouts the Rhino Pro will carry the 10 pin when the Slingshot has stopped carrying it. It is however more speed/rev sensitive than the Slingshot.
