I'm looking for something weak. How do the slingshot, strike king, and lt-48 compare to each other? Which one is truly the weakest off of dry friction?

I've had all three. Slingshot is weakest cover and lowest differential. I could never get that ball to hit even with my slower ball speed/higher rev rate.

Strike King is definitely stronger cover and a little higher flaring. Can see the dry a little too hard for me.

LT-48 is my favorite of the three. It became much more controllable for me once I knocked the factory polish off.

With your ball speed, I'd stay away from the Slingshot unless you're bowling in the parking lot. I'd say LT-48 for the reasons I stated above. Strike King and Misfit might also be an option but sharper on the back.

From strongest to weakest: Strike King, Slingshot, LT-48. If you at looking for a dry lane ball, I would suggest the LT-48 because it will clear the front part of the lane but still give you a smoother reaction when reaching the dry. Since the LT-48 has a solid cover, it can be changed to 3000 or 4000 if it is still to hard off the friction. The surface can be adjusted on the other 2, but since they have a pearl coverstock, they will still hook harder off of the friction. This would depend on what you are throwing before you need to transition to this new "dry-lane" ball? Do you start with a Mastermind series ball or are you using a Melee series ball? Perhaps something else?

This will help determine what is the better option. If you are throwing a Ringer, I am not sure if there is enough difference between the Ringer and the LT to justify that purchase. If you are throwing something significantly stronger, then perhaps the LT is the best option.

Edit: After seeing the question again, I apologize. What others have stated above is true. I mistook your question as being a recommendation for a dry-lane ball.

Good luck finding a Slingshot. I managed to get a couple of them earlier this year, and I should have pulled the trigger on a third one just a couple of weeks ago. But that would be my choice.

Yes, it's 'weak' but it is a deceptively strong ball. Besides, how many reactive pearls are out there with 2.586/.017 numbers (for a 16 pound ball) ?

Recently on a 37-foot flat pattern shot, I balled down to a pin-down Slingshot and my ol' Fab Burgundy Hammer and they kept me out of further trouble.

Thanks for the replies. They are all great. I am indeed looking for a dry lane ball. Doesn't necessarily have to be those three.. They just looked like the best options.. Doesn't even need to be brunswick. I have actually strayed away from Brunswick and I don't have any thing else that is Brunswick right now. My weakest ball right now is an older hyroad. I do have an old game breaker that is drilled with no flare so that is a little weak as well. Probably the same as my hyroad just earlier and smoother. I was considering maybe going up to a cored plastic to fill this position and spares but I'm not sure if that is the right move.

I would recommend the Strike King based on availability and length. The .028 diff of the strike king keeps it from flaring much at all and gets it down the lane. It does hook but not very early and is very controllable on the drier pattern. I tend to throw a Platinum Ringer or a Brute to start with if they are on the drier side of medium and then transition to the Strike King if everything else in the bag hooks too much. The Outcast appears to be a great ball but may be a pinch stronger than a Strike King. Both are excellent values at their price point.

Hey Jason, Take a look at the new DV8 Outcast.

I will check it out.. from what I see it is the Misfit cover with a weaker core

I forgot how good the slingshot was on drier conditions. I practiced with it this past weekend and will try it out in league this week. Mine is drilled with the pin 2 inches from my pap. This is a very stable drilling for me. I was thinking of trying a strike king and drilling it the same way.

I have had the Slingshot and the Strike King for awhile.

The Slingshot has been not much on my house shot, the Strike King has been quite nice on a nearby sparky house shot.

The LT 48 I will soon have to put through it's paces! I'll be comparing to a strong hooking Tropical Heat Hybrid Black Purple I have....quite nice.

Never had the Slingshot but the SK is surprisingly strong, depending on surface. The LT-48 also has the same length, but more recovery on the back-end than the SK for me. Both great pieces.
