Label's effect on reaction.

If you drill a ball so a good portion of the your track crosses the label will this adversely effect the reaction?

Maybe if the label is noticeably above the rest of the balls surface...

Yeah, what J_Mac said.  As long as the label doesn't protrude above the surface of the ball, it shouldn't matter.

Yes, but the question shouldn't be "will it affect reaction" but "how much will it effect reaction".

Under normal circumstances, balls rolling over a label will have minimal effect...not enough to worry about and likely impossible to detect.

I had some reaction problems with Brunswick-produced balls because of protruding engravings. Especially my Awesome Finish caused lots of trouble when it was new - the huge engravings would be in my track area, and they stood out from the surface. The ball had poor traction and control at the break point, I had the impression that it literally lost lane contact.
After shaving the engravings off with a sharp knife and re-polishing the surface, things became much better!

My Smash Zone also caused control trouble, and the engravings protruded, too, but by far not as severe as on the AFi.

Someone mentioned (I am not sure about the name, was a B staffer if I remember correctly) that there had been curing issues that caused this uneven surface.

Never had any problems with normal engravings, though, even though they catch dirt easily.

Given that the USBC won't let you intentionally put grooves on the ball, perhaps they think the grooves might be of some advantage?
