Ambush for short pattern?

Can anyone give me suggestions on how to make the Ambush work on a short pattern.  When it's highly polished it jerks and becomes dead on the clean backends.  My other balls are more agressive and I wanted to change the cover on this ball for this condition.  It is drilled for length.

This may sound odd, but knock off the shine with a gray scotchbrite and try again. Particle balls on shorter patterns have worked well for me from outside angles, but only when they are a little dull. It really smooths out the overall look of the ball.

considering its particle, it might burn a little quick, but thats the main thing your looking for bowling on short patterns. You want something that goes long but lays off a little on the back. experiment!

I love the Ambush, but I don't think it's a good fit on dry lanes.  Any particle ball is gonna burn up.  Try a punisher, awesome ball for dry lanes.

Unless there was a ridiculously high volume on a short pattern, my Ambush would be unplayable, unless I really kill my hand and stay up the back of the ball.  IMO, there are much better choices.

For a short pattern, I can hardly imagine the Ambush.

Unless you have a really high speed, with or without a dulling, the ball would burn up far too quickly.

i used my 320 grit wetsanded goliath on the pba regional pattern #2( 36' of oil )and it just knocked 'em dead playing outside the first arrow. you may indeed be able to use this ball provided your ball speed, style, and surface prep match up.
