I remember throwing the intense right after it came out and being amazed by its hooking power. It felt like the ball would hook on glass. However after aprox 30-40 games it seemed to settle into what I thought it would be used on, straight up medium oil. The smokin' on the other hand didn't hook like crazy out of the box, but rather it did what it was supposed to do (medium/heavy) and I have not seen a reaction change as of yet. Just as a side note: the smokin', to me, isn't a skid flip ball like the intense. The intense would get through the heads and have very little midlane followed by a sudden change of direction. The smokin gets through the heads just as clean but revs quite a bit in the midlane before a sharp break. This is why I view it as a better ball it doesn't snap with little regard to the lane but instead it reads the lane before making its break giving the bowler more mistake room.
