Smokin Inferno questions
« on: April 22, 2006, 09:17:44 PM »
I just got a second hand Smokin punched up with the 1L Drilling.I only bowled a couple of games with it and though I loved the predictable reaction I was getting, once it hit the pocket it was like a marshmallow and left 10 after 10.

What I want to know is a) If you have had the same experience and b) How much difference would a weight hole have on track flare and how much do you think that would help my problem?

Thanks for any help Guys and Gals

I would have got away with it if it was not for those pesky kids (Behind my lane) and those blasted 10 pins.

Yea same thing here, ball just needed the surface to be broke in a little bit.  I also scuffed it down a bit with a scotch brite pad a bit.  The cover is so clean thru the entire lane that sometimes it just doesn't pick up enough down lane to have any power at the pins.  Get a few more games on it and hopefully it improves.

depends on your release as well.
(im using as 15lb 4inch pin from PAP with a high gloss finish)

On a stroker type release, you will get the smooth reaction from the breakpoint and it isn't as sensitive to oil compared to other types of releases.

With a tweener/crankers type of release. Ball reactions will depend highly on oil conditions. In heavy oil, I have had the ball pretty much hydroplane through the entire lane, not even having the chance to grip the surface. But in drier conditions this release will give you the predicted skid-snap reaction advertised.

A weight hole would only increase track flare, but the coverstock condition is the more important factor on the amount of hook and drive into the pocket.
