Dry/R or Groove Urethane?
« on: August 02, 2006, 08:18:31 AM »
Which would be better on a short, light oil pattern with dry backends? The pattern breaks down within 1 game.
I've got med-high rpm and med speed.

Probably Urethane.

what weight do you throw?

how about a weak reactive with a low RG core for control?

I'd go urethane as well.  King of the Short Oil era when there was exactly what you described: light, short oil with dry backends.  There are plenty of other urethanes out there besides the Groove Urethane that actually have dynamic cores if you're not totally set on Brunswick (I know this is the Big B forum, though).  The Slate Blue Gargoyle, XXL (discontinued?), (Super?) Trooper.

Im about to redrill a urethane groove i found in my closet for my tues league. I'd say a urethane ball will fit in for those days when everything in your bag flips!

I think the Urethane is where I'm going to go.  I threw my Clear Wolf for 2 games last night but there was a bit much for plastic. Some nasty splits, but, I made it to the pocket and it carried rather well when it got there.

Any good drills for the Groove Urthane ?

I prefer the dry/r with control it applied.
