Rampage?
« on: June 14, 2005, 08:31:21 AM »
Not sure if anyone posted this or not, but the new issue of Bowlers' Journal has a Brunswick ad that indicates the Rampage will use the PK 18 pearl coverstock around the basic Nemesis/Punisher core.

I kind of like that idea; been wondering why no one has asked for the PK 18 pearlized cover on anything recently. Not even sure what the last B'wick ball was which had the cover.

Fro what i've heard the Rampage had a Solid/Pearl PK18 mix.

That would make it very similar to the Monster Bruiser then huh?

not the bruiser, the smash/r. The smash/r was mixed the bruiser was just solid.

The Bruiser was a PK18 solid.  The SmashR was kinda like a solid/pearl PK18, but I think that Brunswick has said several times that they haven't made a solid/pearl hybrid cover and that the SmashR was a solid that where one of the colors had a pearl "look" to it.  It wasn't a hybrid like the Storm HRH.

So what would be the difference between a solid (Bruiser) and a solid with a pearl look (SmashR)?  Not much I assume.  Why would Brunswick make a ball so close to the Nemesis?  There is a thing called sanding and polish.  I've also heard the Rampage will be pearl PK18.

I don't know if a PK18 pearl with the Nemesis core would look all that similar at all.  For one, the Rampage is probably polished while the Nemesis is sanded.  Sure, you could polish the Nemesis just like the Rampage, but now you've got a polished solid versus a polished pearl.  Still not quite the same.

If the Bruiser and SlayR are going away, then there's a pretty big gap between the smooth, medium-heavy Nemesis and the Punisher.  According to the website, the Bruiser seems to fit in there pretty well, so in that sense, I'm not sure what the motivation is for the Rampage.

The ad in BTM says a perfect fit between nemisis and punisher in reaction and i believe the ad says pearlized pk 18. I got it in the mail yesterday i live in Las Vegas where it is printed, so i am usually one of the first to get it monthly.

Well...what *I* had heard was that the cover on the Rampage would be a *tweaked* version of PowrKoil 18, such that there would be a difference between the Rampage and a polished Nemesis.  Presumably the tweak would bring it closer to something like the N'Control cover on the old Monster Frenzy...but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

It will fit between Nemesis (OOB) and Punisher.

So how would this ball compare with lets say...  a Fire Quantum?

If the Rampage has similar performance data like the Bionic Zone 1, I think I'd get one for medium-dry to medium conditions, because the BZ1 is hard to get. PK 18 pearl with a medium RG core and a length drilling should result in a nice late pop towards the pocket. Wondering which Comparison Chart position it will get? L 10 or so?

Exectly Dizzzy....from teh 2 Bionic Zones I have drilled for people the core is the same as the Nemesis and the over was a pearl PK 18....

Sounds like Brunswick is using it's overseas market as a test bed again...justu like when teh Revolution balls were in production. The IST balls ended up as the origins of the Monster line.

Has SS Extreme anything to do with the coverstock used on the Fuze Igniter?

BL,

The text in that as shot says that the rampage is sure to send the pins into a "frenzy".  Don't you think that might be a hint as to what to expect from this ball?

I've been looking for something to go under my O.I. and C.Z., I think this one just made my list.

Attitutde II had Power Surge cover (from Combat Zone, Combat Zone TE1 and Combat Zone TE2).
Attitude II had the Power Koil 18 dual pearl (Brunswick called it. I assume they meant both colors were pearlized.)

Those notes were from an EXcel chart that Tom Tomaras emailed me in 1998 for balls made through 1997.

Black Ice
LT48 Gold Pearl
