Spare Ball ?

I am looking to buy that new swirl bowling ball, by BW.  My concern is, is it like some of the other spare balls, like the face ones and little kid ones that if u sand it the entire cover comes off and it goes to complete white.  If not I will buy one.  Thanks, Jordan

HAHA I wouldnt have to, my concern is when all the fantastic houses in my area send the ball flying out of the gutter enough that I get a few big knicks and they try to resurface it.  I have just heard that it comes off reall really easy even with just regular cleaning for dirt and stuff.  I am not sure I am only going off what I have heard.

Any Viz-A-Ball has only printed graphics on the surface. If you want something flashy but durable, look for the old Zebra balls from Ebonite - they are made from poured/layered polyester and withstand sanding.

I have an Ebonite Zebra striped ball, theres chipping around the finger and thumb holes. I have to agree with nick that they are pretty brittle.

Oh believe me I am on all your sides with spares I am not one of those people that complains about missing spares cause it hooks.  "I need a new spare ball cause its hooking," please learn to bowl!!  I was just concerned with the cleaning.  How do you feel about the durability of the viz-a-balls???

I know people who only use a vis-a-ball, 1 guy has been using an american flag looking one for 3 years now. Has its nicks and scratches and you seen a faded track being rubbed into the ball from the image slowly rubbing away.

Well, in case it gets chewed up a little, the resurfacing option is there instead of just having an ugly ball.  A lot of houses won't replace it unless it's not useable anymore.  Having an all white ball is pretty cool though . .

I must disagree with this.  one of the houses I bowl at has like 10-15 various Zebra balls that are drilled to be house balls.  I have NEVER seen on crack or chip.  This is a place where football players come to quite often and I watch them roll the stupid balls around 24-25 mph consistently.  I myself have a Zebra III I don't have a lot of games on it, considering its a spare ball it probably has a total of 20-25 games, and the only problem I have had with it is the same problem I've had with all other plastic balls.  they do not take well to thumb slugs.  I had an Ebonite Maxim that I had a thumb slug in and the ball started cracking around the thumbhole.  got a new ball, Columbia white dot.  same thing happened, plugged it, redrilled it with the thumb slug again, same thing.  now with the Zebra I can see the ball cracking out around the thumbslug.  but as for durability... I don't see many balls that can go through that type of beating and still be in that good of shape.  hell they don't even have much in the way of knicks out of them, lol.
