Title: Strike Zone
Post by: Fatboy8 on January 23, 2006, 12:19:15 AM
I recently picked up a SZ and was going to take the surface to 600 wet sanded. I'm wanting to get a little of the length off the ball, and get an earlier roll/hook out of it. Anyone else change the surface of their's?

Right now it's pretty much the OOB surface.

I don't personally know anyone who has left their Strike Zone in box condition.  However, the vast majority of the bowlers I know have brought their surfaces up rather than take them down.

1200 polish worked pretty good to me.  It's a very strong ball, you're not going to shoot it through the breakpoint.  It's still going to read hard whether you polish it or not, the polish just helps it clear the heads and a little of the mids easier.

I'm thinking of just taking the Absolute to 600, and just leaving the SZ the way it is. The Strike would probably be more versitle in OOB conditions. What's reason did most people take them up in grit? To tame it some? Thanks for the replies guys!

Hammie's comment seems to apply to most people I know out here...the polish is used to true the trajectory through the heads and midlane, and to keep the ball from burning too early.

1000 grit abralon works very well for me. Ball rolls really awesome. This ball is very under rated.
