I disagree with the strike zone as your replacement choice.  I have one, it does not perform as advertised as far as I am concerned.  also, after about 50 games it has basically died.  I guess if you want to replacve balls 2 or 3 times a season then stick with these balls but I am done with brunswick because they die way to fast for me.

Good luck sir...

Jimmy,

I went back to BRUNSWICK after years of buying the "GOOD DEAL". I now wonder why I left them in the first place. All the ZONES that I have owned have handled pretty much any lane condition that I bowl on, plus any cary down. I bought the STRIKE ZONE and it works great. I have told a few bowlers about it and they purchaed it. They also love the ball.

But you also need to consult your POR-SHOP and see what they advise you. Weigh your options and decide how much money you can afford to spend and purchase the best ball for YOU. Not everyone bowls the same, so one ball might work for someone else, but not for you.

GOOD LUCK in your search for a new ball...

"A blast from the past": the Fuze Eliminator. Would be THE ball you are looking for. Maybe an Ambush or an Impulse Zone, too, both without OOB polish.

Well, I am sure the same people that have bowled with them so much that they get shinny own their own say the same thing. IMO, with a dull ball you should use a product like Tracks clean and Tacky to clean it after EVERY set and after about 9-10 games, you should freshen up the surface back to out of box becasue it gets shinny after use and thus, loses its original reaction. Why buy and use a dull ball if you are not going to take care of it? You want a dull finished ball becasue of what it can do with certain conditions, why not do the maintence to keep it dull???

The only balls that have officially died on me is A handful of Ebonites.

I agree 100%.  The duller a ball...the more oil it's made for....the more care it will require.

Every ball should be cleaned after every session, it's that simple.

Balls like the Strike Zone need to be cleaned and then as you said Tracks "Clean And Dull" need to be applied also.  Then take a Scotch Bright to it after every 12 games or so.  Get it sanded after a couple hundred games or so.  Throw it in a bath every 100 games or so.

And it's not like this means you have to do it a lot.  You figure these balls aren't used all too often.  I use mine (BVP Goliath) about 1 game per league if the lanes are really oily and have carry down.  By the end of the first game or half way threw the second if it's really greased I can move to my power ball, the Vapor Zone.

The reason these balls work so well in the oil is because they are porous and suck up the oil. It's even more important to clean them.  But every ball needs to be cleaned.

Anyways, the Strike Zone is a good choice.  I use a BVP Goliath and love it.  It eats oil for breakfast and seem to find the pocket when it's really oily out there.  The second it shows a tad bit of over under you know it's time to move a level down as the carry down has been sucked up.

But clean, clean clean!

Remember, if you take care of your ball, your ball will take care of you.

Got the strike zone last night and only try it on league play.  Damn this ball hit hard when the lane are fresh and carrydown.  This ball read the lane lot better then the vapoz zone when it was still good(vapoz zone).  Now I have set pair for flooded lane for strike zone, Medium to slightly light for red zone.  Brunwick nation Brunswick Nation Brunswick Nation Brunswick Nation Brunswick Nation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And that's exactly why I have two Strike Zones, by far the most hard hitting balls I own!

One dull, the other shined almost like a mirror to get that Red Zone reaction - goes waaaaaaay long and makes a left turn 45 to 50 down the lane.....WOW!!

I would ahve to agree with Jimmy, Cland and Prince, the STRIKE ZONE is awesome on oil and seems to ignore carry down. Shot a 632 the other night and the more the oil carried down, the harder it seemed to hit. I did not adjust my feet or target all night and it kept pounding the pocket.
