What is Brunswick's..........
« on: June 12, 2005, 07:40:34 AM »
What is Brunswick's best benchmark ball?  I have read a lot of Track people say that the Slash is Track's best benchmark ball, but what do you feel, currently available, is Brunswick's benchmark?

I would say the AI, but I'll let you know when I throw my new UI this week.

Thanks,

Personally I thing the OI taken down to 600 & then given just a tad of shine is great. It gets rid of any squirt & has a super smooth reaction on the backend. No problem with wet/dry overreaction.

I have an II drilled Rico1, an OI and an AI drilled stacked, and an Impulse Zone punched out at 5x3.  For different conditions, I'm quite eager to throw my next shot with either of those four.  I have had to choose between the four, it would be a toss-up between the OI and the AI.  In other words, if those two(AI & OI) were in front of me, and you had the first choice of equipment, I wouldn't mind picking second.

Nemesis, although I had to take it up from OOB (800 grit) to 1500...
I'm still thinking about what to get next: an AI or a Strike Zone?

(Sorry F.O.S) I drilled up an absolute this week and that is going to be the first ball out of my bag for a long time really love it. If I had to compare it to some thing I would compare it to my Dirty bomb A little weaker a little earlier and doesn't hit quite as hard but it still puts all ten in the pit so its all good as far as I'm concerned.

Glad you like the Absolute; it is a great ball. However ...

Being the first ball out of your bag at your home center does not make it a benchmark ball, UNLESS, of course, it is the only place that you do bowl.

A benchmark ball is the first ball out of your bag at a place where you have no idea how the house and oil pattern will play. It is your most generic ball, one that can be used on a wide variety of conditions AND, it lets you know whether you need a stronger ball or a weaker ball, a longer ball or an earlier ball.
