Sidewinder.. Opinions!

Hey everyone, I have a chance at doing a trade for a Sidewinder. I was wondering what everyone thinks of it? My arsenal, and stats are in my profile right now.

My house's pattern seems to change a lot, so i'm not too sure on what I can say about that if you needed to know. Let's just say there's never a flood. A heavy-medium pattern is the highest at most. Usually the lanes are barely oiled a real pattern in my league's anyways! For example, yesterday, there was a nice shot down, and last week, there was NOTHING. The lanes were completely different. I need a consistant ball reaction every week to be able to score. Otherwise, i'm usually lost! I can throw the ball very well, but usually my pin carry/ball reaction suffers!

So can anyone give me some layout suggestions, and give me some opinions on how they feel about this ball? I've read some reviews, but i'd like extra help! Thanks!

Mine is great for the broken down house shot if it starts out medium-heavy... Rico-ish layout.  Pin is above the grip center.  Shot 300 with it practicing after leagues Tuesday night.

If the lanes aren't consistent then the only consistent ball reaction is straight (or urethane really early rolling arc) there's not a ball you can buy to get a consistent reaction on inconsistent lanes.

Sidewinder is a good ball, a lot stronger than we first thought when we drilled it up. My ball is about 5-5.5" pin high and gets plenty of length, but still with a nice smooth turn on the backend.

Mine was pretty flippy...didn't like it..used it one last time, won some money with it and dumped it.  Haven't been a big fan of Brunswick since the move, but always wanted to try an Ambush, thought it was the same ball...

The Sidewinder is always in my bag and is usually the first ball out of the bag. Very good ball, I wouldn't pass up getting it.

I have mine drilled Rico with the surface at 2000 and it is the absolute best ball I have ever thrown for wet/dry over/under house shots.  For me, it doesn't hit exceptionally hard, but it carries the ten pin off the wall better than any other ball I have.  However, it does need head oil or it will hook early.  Hope this helps.

At 2000 abralon my Sidewinder can handle most conditions very well. Too bad it's in the mid-price category because there's a perception that it's not as good as most high end stuff, and it definitely is!

I'll tell you what. On the right pattern, it's the best ball I have. It starts to roll so early, that there must be almos a bone-dry backend to get any movement from the ball, and I'm a cranker. This ball has carrying trouble when the backends are flooded, but when the shot is there...watch out!

Thanks for the opinions/comments everyone!

I'm still very unsure if I need it right now, though.

I have an AMF Orbit Extreme Solid, and that is my ball that is super smooth. I don't think I need another also smooth ball like that. I'm still thinking, though, and these comments did help. Thanks!
