Scorchin' question for Nationals
« on: February 25, 2006, 06:55:46 AM »
I'm a low rev lefty picking my arsenal for this year's Nationals sojourn.
I NEVER have luck with Asym's, but love all 3 of my infernos (OI/AI/UI. OI and UI were a bit weak last year.
I'm looking at a Scorchin', but Diff at .042 and RG 2.49 sure doesn't sound like a ball that will outhook a UI with 2.46 and .050. Is the cover THAT much better?
Suggestions for drill also appreciated. FYI, dang near everything I have now is pin below or beside ring, cg swung out, balance hole on PAP drilled away.
Just seems to be the best drill for me, but open to suggestions.
Thanks in advance

The cover is alot stronger.  The weight block is the same as the smokin'.  Do not be deterred, the scorchin' will hook plenty.  Expect 4-5 boards more on a heavy shot in excess of 40 ft.

The core is different than the Smokin. It is similar to that of the Ultimate, but with the coverstock they raised the RG to create a little more length. Once at Nationals, talk to the guys at the B booth and they will set you up with a proper drilling to help score at nationals.

It seems that right now the Vapor match up best. We've seen success with a 5 to 5 1/2 inch pin and 45-55 degree mass. The pattern is the sofest in a while. The Scorchin' is just too much ball right now.

Bruns4life is CORRECT about Nationals.  Scorchin is way to much ball with this years conditions.  I agree with the Vapor Zone recommendation as it will play on just about any condition.  Good Luck, just my opinion.

Remeber though, we're talking a low rev lefty here. I'm hitting ice on the left as it is, and NEVER seen "too much ball".
Any thoughts if that changes things?

as mentioned in an earlier email, try the strike zone ,
i am medium rev and a 4 1/4 x 1/2 down axis, put the pin between the fingers, mb in strong position (as mentioned in a brunswickinsiders.com drill ), i get more reaction and rev then with any other ball, my vapor zone is drilled exactly the same as my strike zone, it gets a bit more length due to the pearl cover

lefty also remember that this years oil pattern has quite a bit less in volume as compared to last years.

yeah, it is a LOT stronger than an ultimate.
a lot more backend and it gets into a roll a little earlier(at least for me).

Its hard to play with an inferno and not get burned. Last time I threw my inferno, the opposing bowler definitely got burned.
