I think rough buff is 800 grit?  I took mine to 1000 abralon, haven't tried it yet though.

According to the Brunswick spec sheet for the Ultra "To return ball to out of box condition sand to 220 grit and then use rough buff" So I would guess it is some where between 1000 and 2000 grit abralon. I thought someone had mentioned on here that rough buff takes the ball to somewhere around 2000 abralon

Rough buff is the OOB surface.

It is between 2000 or 4000 abralon, reaction wise for me.  I have found it difficult to get the ball back to OOB finish after changing the surface and using rough buff.  Its just hard to replicate what they do at the factory, but if you do the same surface preparation to all your equipment, then its not an issue.
