Ball recommendation

I need something to push farther down the lane when my Smash Zone starts to read too early.

I was considering the Swarm since it would fit in between the Smash Zone and the Avalanche for when the lanes are toast.

Is this the right ball, or should I be looking at the Twisted Fury Destruction that is going to be released?

I havent thrown the Smash Zone.. But being that the Swarm has a PK 18 cover, you will not see more length from that ball.. PK 18 is a stronger cover than EnMotion..

Which Avalanche do you have?

I just received a Twisted Fury Destruction and Maxxx Zone yesterday, and plan to punch some holes in them within this weekend.. So i will know more about the TF Destruction soon.. But just from the info i would think the TF Destruction would be too strong a ball too..

I know what you mean - the SZ really rolls up pretty early, and you have a hard time when you play short patterns or a track burns up on the lane.
I'd also suggest a Swarm or an Avalanche Solid, keep this at OOB finish and hit the SZ with Rough Buff to set it apart a bit more. It still gets well thorugh the heads with this finish, but IMHO the ball becomes much more versatile with the compound finish, and also stronger overall.

I have the pearl and solid avalanches.  I was using the solid lately, but when the track dries up this ball also reads a bit too early.  I started using the pearl...but there's too big of a gap in performance on our shot.  The pearl doesn't have enough to get back.

The solid works well if the lanes dont burn up as much.  As of late they have been transitioning quicker.  So I'm hoping the Swarm will have about the same hook potential as the Avalanche solid...just more of it in the backend instead of reading early.  From Dizzy's description...it sounds like the swarm may be the ball.

The Swarm is a good choice. Not too strong of a drilling, though, maybe 4 1/2 to 5" from your PAP and above the fingers.

Sounds to me like the Avalanche Slide could be just the ticket here.  It's cleaner in front than the Solid, but not as pushy down lane as the Pearl.

I agree with the statements on the Swarm. It will get down the lane depending on the drilling. Weaker drilling and pin up should do the trick. Also, one thing to consider is a second Smash Zone with a length drilling on it. The Smash has a different look than the Swarm so, that needs to be considered as well. Some of the guys around my area are using Swarms on PBA short patterns (Cheetah) and they are killing it with them. I also have thrown an Avalanche Pearl on Cheetah it has a 5 X 5 drilling on it. It gets through the heads really clean and lots of length with a great move on the backend. That is another choice. IMHO, it will come down to matching the ball with the layout to get the reaction you are looking for.
