Who said it's being discontinued?  It's been around for like, 4 months.  That'd be insane.

Too much overlap between the Blazing and the Monster SlayR.  Given the choice, most bowlers didn't want to pay the extra money for the Blazing.

The Blazing was supposed to act something like the Slay/R?

It wasn't supposed to, but that seems to be the way it turned out...

If that's true, then I think it was the Slay/R that was the stray arrow. I had doubts that Brunswick could create a "go-long" dry lane ball... and I'm right from what I've seen. How about Brunswick axes the Slay/R and takes a second shot at something straighter.

I think the Blazing is much stronger and a better ball than the SlayR.  My blazing is drilled a little stronger considering my slayR his pin above middle finger and cg under ring, but it's noticable weaker regardless.  I love my blazing and feel sorry for anyone who couldn't get it to work for them.

i spoke with tom tomaras of brunswick last week and he assured me that when a new brunswick ball comes out on the market it will be available for at least one year. he also stated that when their new catalog for 2004-2005 comes out around the time of the mini-eliminator( late june-early july )the bowling balls shown will be available for at least one year.

i guess we'll have to wait and see what's in the 2004-2005 catalog. i know i was told there would be infernos and monsters.......it's always possible that upper management may change their minds.

Hmm...I'm wondering if Brunswick changed the SlayR coverstock in mid-stream or something.  My SlayR is far and away the weakest reactive ball in the bag right now.  The Chrome/Yellow Power Groove, which is drilled almost identically and in box condition, outhooks it by three to five boards on every condition where I've thrown both balls, ranging from nearly-fresh to sixth-arrow dry.  I can use my SlayR in the dirt, and it stays clean all the way through the midlane.  However, I know some people with SlayRs that seem to hook early and often.

They're wrong for axing the Power Groove line, unless they're going to move the Monster line down into that price range.

I don't think the following is really news to anyone, but here goes anyway...

They're not getting rid of the entire Power Groove line.  They're keeping the Black Sparkle and the Chrome/Yellow, and adding a few new color schemes for the reactive, one of which is supposedly the color scheme from the Attitude III.  Can't wait to see that one;  the samples are supposed to be ready sometime this month.

There will be a new high-end line introduced sometime this year, but I've heard that Brunswick will keep at least the original and Ultimate Infernos in the catalog through 2004, and possibly beyond depending upon how well they continue to sell.

The Monster line is going away, but there will be a new mid-price line to replace it.

Also, look for an asymmetric Zone with an Activator cover sometime later this year.

Oh PLease Please Please - Make it a ball with the Original Inferno cover, and put the Time Zone core inside. Split the difference on the RG, perhaps something that ranges from 2.48 to 2.53. Make it a slightly darker shade of Black/Orange. Send me a couple right now! 4" pin and a 2" pin. I'm buying - where do I sign up!!!!
