Title: The Brawler is a game changer for Brunswick
Post by: Russell on March 08, 2013, 08:53:29 AM
I have to be honest, Brunswick hasn't usually been the first suggestion for my customers in most cases for quite some time.  The last series of balls that I truly thought were great were the Infernos.  Don't get me wrong, they haven't all been mediocre, but I would tend to favor Storm and Roto stuff because I felt their covers were a little better overall.

That has changed.....

Brunswick staffer Jason Sterner helps out in my shop some and really kept in my ear about the Brawler and how versatile it is.  He said the new stuff are the shapes the big B had been missing.  It allowed him to play angles he hadn't been able to play in the past.

So I bit....drilled a Brawler 4 weeks ago 5" pin 4" buffer and a p3 hole.

WOW

This ball reminds me of the Original Inferno, which is still perhaps the best ball ever made.  I can play multiple angles with it and never feel like I'm giving anything away.  It's not more angular....or earlier....or more overall hook than anything else.  It's just a great all around ball.  It reads the midlane better than my Disturbed and IQ Tour, and I can move in and get it to change direction when I need.  It responds very well to ball roll changes, and is a true shotmaker's ball.

This is a ball everyone should have in their bag.

i agree. i've rolled about 9-12 games on mine so far. & it is an awesome ball. mine is drilled 60 x 5 x 60. i went for control, due to the fact i'm rev dominant. this ball remind's me more of an absolute inferno because of the control of the lane it does give me. in my league, we bowled 2 weeks on the 2012 usbc pattern & shot 803 oob with it & 677. we have one week under our belt on the 2013 pattern & rolled 694. i will admit though the pattern is playing softer than the real thing, but still it's not a house shot either. the point is the ball roll's great in the midlane, doesn't jump as soon as it see's friction & has excellent continuation. i thought i liked the versa-max & the meanstreak. the meanstreak brawler is a brunswick piece worth every penny. it's not even a top tier price either.

The Brawler does look like a great piece. I'm still not sold on the Aura or the Meanstreak, but the Brawler and the Paranormal look like good pieces (especially the Brawler).

The Brawler is an everyday type ball.  It doesn't out-hook others but it allows me to play straighter lines without the snap on the back. I've tried mine at 3 different surfaces and it's definitely a KEEPER!

the meanstreak is longer & quicker response than the brawler. the amount of hook is close, just a different shape. i do not have either aura's, but from what i have seen i'd go with the paranormal & go with cover changes. it look's more controlable. the first aura look's a little more condition specific. just my observation though.

Haven't thrown the Brawler, but I must say that I LOVE my Meanstreak.

I drilled one that I received from a brunswick staffer not long ago.
Mine was drilled 40 * 5 1/2 *60 took it to 1500 and polished it up.
Rolls pretty good. It was pretty much the same motion as you would get out of the 811 c/t which is drilled the same way.

If you get a brawler you will like it.Its a solid all round piece.

Yes he did, he has a few of them and says it's the best piece he's seen in a long time.  Mind you he's been a free agent for the better part of 4 years and able to throw whatever he wanted.

I have to agree. The shapes coming out of Big B (Did I mention I like the shapes of the DV8 stuff?) are pretty nice. Covers have always been pretty good coming out of there, but the share wasn't what people were looking for. It seems that they may be back to matching up core and covers well. Good for them!

Jason was just recently signed. He was on Staff a few years back, but hasn't been since about a month ago.
