« on: May 20, 2010, 08:29:31 AM »
which of these 2 coverstocks is stronger? i always assumed that the PK18 was stronger and smoother, but is this true? all the balls that i have are PK17 and i was wondering what stepping up to the PK18 (Avalanche) would gain me over what i already have?

PK 18 reads both oil and dry stronger - especially the dry I would probably call PK 17 smoother. This is not to say PK 17 doesn''t read the oil. The Red Black Monster I used to throw had a very long curved path to the pocket not over reacting to either wet or dry.

Sometimes/often I have to stand at 40 (right hander) to kept my Avalanche Solid in play on THS.

I think PK18 is stronger in every area. I think it is smoother to when sanded at the identical grit as PK17.

PK18 was and is one of the best covers ever made. Been around forever and has stood the test of time.
