how's CFT holding up?
« on: January 28, 2011, 10:30:34 AM »
I am considering an Alpha Max and just wondering how's the coverstock will hold up. This coverstock should be similar to those found in all the C-system balls? Never had one of those but saw a guy did really good with a 3.5.

Won't the "chemical" in it change when it ages?

I got my first C-System 2.5 back in October of 2009 and I used it the rest of the 2009-2010 season. Since then it's been the ball I practice with. I bought a new 2.5 for this years leagues. I bought a 3.5 half way through last season as well. I've performed normal maintenance on all these balls........clean after each use and resurfacing & rejuvenating as needed. These balls work just as good as the day they were purchased. I bought a 4.5 in October of this year and it works great as well.

My 3.5 is now a year old, strong as ever, but as mentioned, coverstocks must be cleaned and maintained

regularly, something about Brunswick coverstocks that they really seem to last, durability and,

i still use a 1999 Brunswick Power Blitz pearl when the conditions call for, the ball is as strong and no cracking as when it was drilled.

My 2.5 and 3.5 are still good. The Alpha Max is new, but I would not expect anything except the typical durability that is Brunswick.

I find that on the 3.5 if i use it at 4000 by the end of a 3 game set it shines up from the lane oil. So I would sand it after every set with a 4000 pad. I have only had good success on sport patterns when sanded @2000 or 4000. So I decided polish the crap out of it for a house shot. It is now my go to ball for the last 4 weeks  I like it much better now. I find that on the 2.5 can go longer before i need to refinish it. Just my .02
