Figjamming the Rattler...again.

Just wanted to give a shout out to Brunswick for the Rattler again.

Tonight in my 2nd shift league I shot 226, 233, 290-749.  I've never shot a 290 before, so it's 30% cool for me to post this.

I like my Rattler so much, I could get a 1975 single ball bag, and carry it around, and be cool with it.

Since I've gotten the Rattler, I've shot my first 800 (813), won the City Tournament Singles Scratch and Handicap (813, 825), and some other cool stuff.

Bowling is still kinda cool in my book.

Thanks Brunswick, but more importantly, thanks to all the people that are going to flame me for posting this.  I mean, who posts about bowling scores on a bowling website when we could be talking about President Obama or Trent Lott?

Still waiting for my 800 but in the process I did shoot 724 last week (won a turkey lol) and haven't shot lower than 648 in 6 weeks. In fact, other than that 648 and a 652 the previous week, the other 4 weeks were all 699 or above

The Rattler is great! There are a few other "hidden gems" available from Big B at the moment. Great bowling, and continued success to you.

The Rattler was such a random purchase for me.  We were a few weeks away from the City Tournament and I wanted a new ball.  I called my driller and asked about the Mission and if he could drill it and ship it to me because I live 2.5 hours away from him now.  He was busy with customers and asked me to call him back to the next day to set it up.

For some unknown reason, I called him the next day and told him to drill me up a Rattler instead.  I had liked the looks of it, and to be honest I thought it was Activator solid with polish  I had the Ultimate Inferno polished and I loved it, so I thought, heck, why not.

I then gave him the wrong date I needed it by, so I didn't have it for my team event or first set of singles and doubles.  

I got it the night before I was to bowl my 2nd set of singles and doubles, so never had a chance to go throw and practice with it.  My thumb was swollen so I couldn't fit into my Jigsaw, so I had to use the Rattler.  Shot 680 in doubles, then made a switch down to lanes 1 and 2 and shot 268, 266, 279-813.  

The ball paid for itself about 5 times over the first night I used it, and I've put up some other decent sets with it as well.  I match up really well with this ball for whatever reason.

great bowling!
that ball is great. myself & handful of people i know have that ball & they all love it. it has that rare core cover combo that matches with a lot of styles.
i'd like to give props to brunswick & the anaconda. i rolled 300-216-232=748 on the kegel autobahn sport pattern last night. another great brunswick ball!

IMHO, it's one of those "rare" balls that will fit a wide range of both lane conditions and bowler styles at once. This is what made the Inferno one of the most successful balls that Brunswick produced.

IF I was allowed just one ball to take without knowing what oil volume or pattern they were putting down, this is the one that I would choose..

What kind of drilling best suits the Rattler's design characteristics, pin up or pin down, and does it typically perform best at OOB or with a surface change?

i doubt there's a "best" drilling for almost any particular ball. you drill it
with the reaction shape you desire. if unsure, go with your favorite layout & don't be afraid to change surface if needed. very versatile ball.

I have mine drilled pin down below the ring with the cg angled out and to the left, small weight hole to balance it out.

It's my favorite drilling for pearls because it tends to help smooth out the reaction for me instead of being long and snappy.  I need the length more than anything, and a snap on the back end just gets me into trouble.

I bowled the best with my Rattler with it's OOB surface.  I knocked the polish off with a scotch brite pad because I bowled league at a house with more oil than the one that I loved my Rattler at.  It didn't work too well and it's been shelved for a while because I pretty much killed the reaction by doing so.

I found an old Brunswick ball polisher at an alley back home, and for $.50 I figured I'd give it a try.  It gave it a very nice finish, so I put another $.50 in.  The ball came back to life, just about 1/2 a board stronger than I remember, but it's not a bad thing.  So for a $1 I got my ball back
