Thoughts on the Power Groove DRY/R
« on: April 09, 2008, 10:17:22 AM »
This ball has been out for a while... so by now surely lots of people have thrown it!

I know it's got the same Core and RG/RG Differential as the regular Power Groove Reactives... but supposedly a weaker coverstock!

How much weaker is the DRY/R ball reaction than the regular Power Groove Pearl Reactive?

And is this ball simliar to say the Storm Blue Hot Flame or Red Hot Flame... or say the DynoThane Barrage... or the DRY/R a little more ball than those balls?

Thanks!

Ric,I use mine for my spare ball.I drilled it label,so it wouldn't hook much but when the lanes are really toast it works great and hits pretty well.carries better than a plastic ball

When the lanes get real toasty you can stay on top of the friction because this ball has clears the lanes as if oil was on it. And it carries good. If you want a literally dry lane ball none of that maybe it will work on mediums stuff get it.

I had one, but only gave it 2 games because it had a weird static weight distribution and flered backwards... I would have kept it if it had not been such a mutant ball that must have slipped through the quality control!

Nevertheless, from what I witnessed, the ball is a very good choice for dry lanes or very light oil. The coverstock is really tame, so length is no issue, and it is not flippy, due to the high RG - it pushes the ball well down the lane.

Just beware with the setup, do not drill it overly strong since it has a lot of flare potential for a dry lane ball. IMHO, a setup with the pin above the fingers at 5" from PAP and the CG slightly swung out to the PAP to smooth out the breakpoint is a very good basis. Recommendable, works as advertised.
