THS ball *find me one* HELP!
« on: September 20, 2005, 12:56:53 PM »
So yea, i have a problem... it seems that i have more hand than speed... so any stronger drilling on a strong ball, seems to over react for me on the THS. Went to an alley, and speed at the pin deck was 13.3-13.8, depending on how i tried to play the lane.

It never has enough length to me, and it seems that it always reads to early, my own accuracy could be to blame as well. *older stats* in profile.

Example. AI drilled pin above bridge, on the THS, with my low speed, hits 10 reads and hooks.

I have tried, weaker/med equpiment but with strong drillings, most recently Rampage, pin below bridge, no x-hole (may add a flare reducing xhole), slayR/Rico1.

My first thought would be to drop 1lb in ball weight.  I normally use 15 but have a 14 as well.  No noticable loss in carry.

Have you tried sanding the AI up to say 1000 and then applying High Gloss to it?  It dramatically changed the reaction on mine.  I couldn't believe it.  It pushed much further down the lane, with the same backend.  If that doesn't work, you could try a Red Pin Zone Classic with the MB under the thumb or in the track(depending on how you track).

So far this year, the only ball I have used for league has been my Power Groove Pearl.  If you have a good hand with a slower speed (like me) then this ball is hard to beat.  I have no problem playing a gentle swing outside or moving in and letting it rip (I know, anyone can do that on a THS).  For this price point, this is hard to beat.

Mine has rolled out before, but it doesnt do it that often. I just find myself needing alot of head oil or playing dramatic angles to get it to hold. It will usually hook to much, or to early, and it seems that the THS plays kinda spotty for me. * i will make a vid of the angle i have to play with it*

Im gonna try and work with the equipment i have, so sanding the AI may be an option, im also gonna add a flare reducing hole to the rampage, i love the way it rolls, but its still a tad to early, see if my driller cant fine tune it for me.

Im not to intrested in going down a lb... that would be a last straw if i had to do that.

So should i just look into buying weaker balls for playing on my THS?
