weight holes
« on: September 11, 2005, 04:12:00 AM »
I have a Rampage drilled almost identical to my smokin inferno.  The balls, react quite similarly, with the Rampage having a little more length with a quite a bit more snap.  I have decided that I will throw the rough buff on the smokin so that it reacts a bit sooner, but I still would like to make some other changes to tame down the rampage and add backend to the smokin'.  I saw on brunsnick's video of the rampage, that there was a flare reducing weight hole.  What influence does that weight hole have on the ball reaction.  It must reduce the overall hook, but how does it affect length, and breakpoint shape?  Also, on the smokin, I was thinking of adding a weight hole in the thumb quadrant.  I know that this increases length and backend, which is another reason that I will use the rough buff.  Can anyone comment on these proposed changes?  How much difference would they make?

The problem is that the rampage is snapping alot more than the smokin while going just a little bit longer.  The overall hook advantage on medium (even toward the heavier side) belongs to the Rampage.  The ball has so much backend that I cannot come out of it correctly, I have to flatten the ball out to maintain control.  I would like the Rampage to be a ball to go to on patterns where the smokin' is reading too early, and/or not making a good move through the carrydown.  If their reaction shapes can be more similar with the smokin being earlier I believe they would be better compliments.

Thanks for the comment on the flare reducing hole BrunsRicH.  What would a rough buff finish combined with a medium sized weight hole in the thumb quadrant do to the smokin'?  Would it give more overall boards and be earlier?
