A while back, a teammate of mine bought a NIB time zone. I'm not sure if he received a bad cover or something, but his would do basically nothing. Resembled a urethane ball... he had the ball layed out strong (4" pin and psa in strong position)... he tried all sorts of surfaces on the ball... and a couple different lane surfaces w/ diff patterns. Finally he sold the ball as it basically had little reaction. Inside it had no reaction... seemed to work best playing straight up the boards playing outside of 10. I had an old black/c buzzsaw at the same time with a ton of games on it and this ball (same cover and similar layout) would do circles around the time zone (as far as reaction would go...).
With that being said, I am looking for a replacement for my khameleon. Basically a solid pk18 cover than I can polish and use on medium to light to broken down patterns. I read the reviews of the Time zone and it seems as though most other people experienced a different type of reaction than we had seen. What are your thoughts?

I second that.

Well.. I'm siding towards the tz as a guy in my leeague bought one... has about 20 games on it and wants to sell it (I have a chance to get one cheap!). He spins the ball like a top, so it gives me no idea of the the ball reaction. Did you experience more of a pk 18 type of reaction (skid/flip if polished) or more of a "urethane" control type of reaction?

Most Time Zones layed out that strong gave that garbage read. I had one layed out basically like the one you're describing and it would just roll up fast and then quit. It was great for playing the track or very direct though. I redrilled it later pin over bridge(about 5 1/4 to PAP) with the MB in the strong position then I noticed a much better reaction, length with a sharp continuous backend. I think maybe the core is a bit too strong in this ball to warrant a leverage pin position.

That's definitely possible... I would expect the cover to the "strong"... I'll probably give the ball a shot (worst case, I dump it on eBay and get most of my $$$ back). Prob go with weaker pin placement above fingers to get some extra length.... I'll give a report in the next week or two.. LOL
