I recently qualified for this year's Junior Gold tournament in Buffalo. For those that don't know, the tourney is held on a long, medium and short shot across 3 houses. The equipment limit is 6 balls, so here is what I was thinking on taking

Heavy: 3 3/8" pin to pap Mammoth (OOB) with flare increasing x-hole
Med.- Heavy: 4 1/2" (below fingers) pin to pap Fury (OOB) with x-hole 2" down VAL
Med.: 4" (below fingers) pin to pap Radical (2000 abr.) with x-hole on pap
Med.-Light: 4" (below fingers) pin to pap Wizard (4000 + rough buff)
Light: 6" (above fingers) pin to pap Smokin (2000 + hi gloss polish)
Plastic Spare Ball

My stats are:
RPM: 350 +/-
Speed: 17-18
Pap: 4 3/4 right 0 up/down

Do you think this would cover the range of conditions plus carrydown and breakdown that I'm likely to see?

things that i found to work at jr. gold when i was a jr bowler was equipment without shine.  shiney stuff was really squirty at the breakpoint.  even on the short shot i didnt throw anything shiny.  i last bowled in 2005 at jr gold and the short and medium shot i had a great look with a classic zone at 1200 grit with no polish.  i actually took the polish off of my stuff during my practice sessions.  controlabitlity was the key.  your spare ball will be your best friend the whole tournament.  good luck.

Thruway and Airport Lanes are synthetic, and seem to hold up fairly well. Transit is a totally different story...old beat up wood, dries up extremely fast and transistions just as fast. Be ready to make sudden and large adjustments at Transit. (Before anyone asks, I bowl a lot at Transit, under many different conditions from regular leagues, fresh oil, and after other leagues too. Also in the Seniors Shootouts, and the Summer Classic Shoot Outs).

Transit scoring is usually best in the middle lanes of the house...the last pair, 51 & 52 usually hook right off your hand, no matter what the rest of the house is doing.
