I didn't know how to put this into a different type of thread without sounding critical but I really am hoping for more core options for this season.  Brunswick is only rotating 5 cores in their entire lineup.  While most of the stuff is great(I don't seem to get along with Activator+ for some reason, but that's just little ole' me and I'm no one important), most of the stuff in each line gives the same type of "look" just in different volumes of oil.  The Powergrooves all want to go like a dart for 40 feet then checkmark at the end of the patterns.  The BVPs all give a heavy midlane with a backend tourquing motion late downlane.  And the Inferno series....well that's just the typical activator reaction in all of its variant forms.  The Zone series, being assymetrical does offer a wider range of options with breakpoint shape, but it's limited to the use of activator and activator + which works like a pot of gold for a ton of players on patterns all across the boards.  I believe the activator shells work best on patterns that have no real "buff out" area for the way it transitions in motion down the lane, but on blended crowns and house shots with alot of buff downlane it's just a bit too strong.

What I'd like to see is more "shape" options out of the midpriced and lower series.  The high end stuff already has a strangle hold on the market so if it ain't broke, don't fix it.  But I would like to see something else than just the inverted med-r.g. bell cores on the varying PK18 shells.  I know Brunswick doesn't really believe core shape matters as long as they're trying to achieve certain spec numbers, but maybe a reintroduction of the fuze cores in the midpriced line or (shocker!) something all new together that can give varying options between low & high R.G.s in the midpriced line on some friendly tweakable covers.

Maybe I'm just looking for "niche" type balls and I'm being a bit picky, but that's my dream.  I've thrown a TON of the brunswick stuff since the Fuze line but since last summer I've found myself venturing out to other brands and I've been finding some great hidden gems that are matching up very very well to the "northeast coast" conditions I'm seeing to the point that the "B" stuff that has been released in the past year didn't really intrigue me.

I know everyone likes a little consumer feedback so being pro shop affiliated and traveling alot with the collegiate team I coach I just thought I'd share some things from my perspective and others that I am coming across.

Neither.  The company doesn't sell the equipment to the consumer;  the pro shop operators do.  So it's a matter of the company having to educate the pro shop operators.  As you're doubtless well aware, some operators are more receptive to this than others, and of those who are receptive, some are better at conveying this information to the consumer than others.

And yes, I know, I know, some companies have tried the direct-mail "hit" pieces in the past.  But do you know anyone *personally* who bought a ball because of a flyer or brochure they received in the mail?

I think Brunswick makes their equipment "user friendly" and as someone stated earlier, the shape of Brunswick balls in general are the same. The differences are in the coverstocks, thus making it easier for me to select my ball of choice. Also the fine-tuning options with the PSA's that Zone series offers is UNMATCHED. I like the fact the Brunswick high-end stuff is fairly "simple" in design. Its more controllable and stays in play much longer than offerings from other companies. That being said, one can see why Im very happy with Brunswick eqiupment. It just provides with a "piece of mind" that other companies dont offer in my opinion.

Pretty much what northface said.  We've made it simple to build and maintain an arsenal that allows the majority of bowlers to match up on any condition they encounter. With the coverstock combinations we provide over the cores that are proven to be very effective, we can fit any type of bowler.  Really, WHY make if more difficult than it has to be.

With that being said, we will have new technology in the near future that will keep us supplying bowlers with the latest innovations that can continue to create something for everyone. I mean, c'mon, when bowlers, pro shops, AND distributors keep telling you that what we're doing is working, why would we venture away from success. And no, we're not just sitting back hoping the next "whatever" ball is successful because the last one was. As you will see with our next Inferno, with new machinery in place, we will now be able to move on to exciting new ideas that will keep us moving to the next level of performance.

By the way, we also still have the most durable urethane material in the business.

Wow.  It sounds like Lane#1's marketing has infected Brunswick.

1) A different/additional core in the BVP line (just a personal wish, not a necessity, since I tested some BVP balls and they all never worked for me well
2) Something for dry lanes with a dynamic core (idea: Slay/R or Danger Zone III, as a Punisher alternative) -> see 6, too
3) Something between the Punisher and the SI, maybe with a medium RG, med DRG asymmetrical Zone core. N'control Power Boost solid?
4) An Inferno with a solid light load particle cover (maybe Activator LLP with the Scorchin'/Smokin' core) as a control piece for spotty lanes
5) A low RG, symmetrical core ball with "simple" original Activator pearl.
6) An urethane pearl ball with a medium RG, medium DRG core, maybe in the BVP line, for dry to medium dry conditions.

Just some quick comments...

quote:

Power Grooves are "dynamic", they're just high RG I'm guessing Brunswick will never do a Monster-esque line again, it must have cannibalized their high end stuff (The whole Fuze generation was pretty much a failure compared to Zone before it and Inferno after it, right? Nobody talks about those balls anymore.)

Why would anyone want to pay more money for a ball when the DryR does the job perfectly. A guy averaged 250 on the regional pattern 1 with the DryR in our local 5 game tourney. Fuze line failure? I'd like to know where you got that from. Eliminator and Red Fuze were some of the best Brunswicks made in last 5 years.

I'd like that too.

That I also like!

6) An urethane pearl ball with a medium RG, medium DRG core, maybe in the BVP line, for dry to medium dry conditions.

Again, the DryR fits that spot perfect and doesn't cost much.

Red Fuze and Eliminator both sold exceptionally well.  One reason why they're hard to find now.
