What are all your opinions on the Total. I just drilled one up, pin over ring slightly moved to the right.

I have about 15 games on mine so far and I love the reaction I'm getting from it. Its drilled pin 4.25in from PAP under and to the right of ring finger with an x-hole down the VAL. I have used the ball in 2 different houses on 2 different shots and it has performed great. I've played 20 to 10 normal delivery and 8 to 4 softer hand. This is my first Brunswick ball, Ive been  throwing Track for the better part of 6 or so years and I can say that I'm not at all disappointed.

I have found that the Total Inferno really wants to get into a roll quickly.  It has a very low RG, an agressive cover, and high differential (lots of flare).  Mine is drilled with pin 4.25 from PAP and 3.75 above the mid line (above ring finger).  CG in palm.

I have had several different surfaces on the ball but the reaction has been generally the same with all surface preps.  At first I thought the ball was hooking very little in comparison with other strong or early rolling layouts that I have.  I then realized that the ball was just rolling too soon.  I get the best reaction when I release the ball with a lot of axis rotation (hand on the side of the ball).  The ball then pushes a little further down lane and has a bigger move.

So far it has looked best for me on a 40 ft. pattern.  I bowl in a league that uses close approximations of the PBA regional patterns.  The house shots that I have bowled on don't have enough oil up front or are not long enough to really take advantage of the ball.  The league has been on a two week break for the holidays.  Next Monday we will have a five week stint on the 42 ft. pattern.  I'm interested to see how the Total plays.

i drilled a radical and buddy drilled a total
both of them are alike "BOOKENDS" what a waste of time.
put them on oil and you got yourself a expensive spare ball
these balls have got to be the most unpredictable things i have ever seen.
is this what brunswick has done by moving to mexico?
if so gonna lose alot of customers.
balls will skate next shot they will start to move just after the arrows.
total inferno was drilled for lefty leverage ,ball was lucky sometimes to make it back for a washout.
my opinion stay away from these 2. go back to storm ,ebonite, house ball
anything. but then again thats just my opinion

Kurt,

How did you drill your Radical?? What is the surface?

Why would anyone drill an aggressive ball with the lowest RG core on the market leverage?

I learned this lesson a few years ago with a Storm Super Charge. I drilled a 4" pin under and this ball flared so much the rings were about 3/8" apart. This was the biggest disappointment ever. The ball rolled so soon it had no backend whatsoever. I sold it the very next day because it was useless.

The worst thing you could tell your pro shop is to drill a ball for maximum hook.

I just bought a Total and it is being shipped soon (I hope).  I was planning on going with the 1L drilling from your layout sheet, but since my revs are in the low 200s, are you saying that I would be better off going with the 2L?  According to your guide online, the 1L is the max backend drilling for medium-low rpm players.

I didn't have any luck with the last Inferno I bought and I want to make sure I have success with this one.  I want the ball to get through the heads with a strong backend reaction, but not really skid/snap, so maybe 2L is best?

Well i threw it for school bowling and let me tell you that this thing is freakin AWESOME. I was getting alot more backend than my Uranium, but that is a smooth arcing ball anyway. Pin over ring, moved right a little. at one house i was throwing the ball 23-3 and i was lovin' it like mcdonalds. Alot of backend and i had to actually throw it faster because of the move off the dry.

Next house after that, it was more oilier, and whoever said that it was an expensive spare ball is dead wrong, i was throwing 20-5, and once again, i was lovin' it like mcdonalds. If i want to throw down and in, i have to crank up my speed because it is hard for me to adjust my rev's.

We drilled two of these for customers at a local house on Sunday. Both are high revvers(350-450) one with speed (19-20) other with average (16-17). OOB the low speeder said it was a toad even though we pinned him at 4 3/4". We looked at the flare rings and he was getting about 6-7" so we put a flare reducer hole and some polish and he loves it. The high speeder left his box surface and we put a label 4 1/4" pin to him. Again we couldn't believe the flare on this ball probably 7" with much flare seperation. He loved it and proceeded to shoot 761 against me last night when i subbed in a match league (medium volume oil, 42ft length on HPL's). I really liked the reaction I saw but yes I believe you really need to pay attention to the flare and amount of oil you start it on. The high revver also had an absolute and a radical with him. He was about 7-8 boards deeper than the radical and about 4-5 than the absolute with a much straighter trajectory through the front and a harder arc in the back than the absolute.
