Question about my twisted fury.....
« on: January 10, 2008, 12:35:01 PM »
I got a TF, pretty much the #3 layout, with pin above middle finger, about 5 3/4 away, mb about 1 1/2" right of thumb oob.  I wasn't crazy about this drilling, w/the negative pin, but it was suggested I try and if I didn't like it I could get another one.  Well, it's going a little too long for me, and that's w/me being a 15 mph thrower rev dominant.  I guess I throw in a little heavier THS, synthetic.  I'm thinking of turning this one in, and getting another one, mb in same position, but pin maybe above the ring finger instead, about 1 1/2" closer to the pin, about 4 1/2 or 4 1/4" away.  I'm hoping it will still retain it's lenght due to its higher rg, yet the close pin will prevent it from sliding past the breakpoint, as my TF does sometimes.  Any thoughts?

I like the comparison, maybe I'd put the pin a little lower, right above ring.  It seemed to not go past the breakpoint on a house shot.  You think it will still be controllable, and not over/under?

^^^^^^^^ What he said ^^^^^^^^^

Try it at 2000, then try 1000, or you could go down lower then polish it back up with Rough Buff. Either of those options should make the ball read the oil better and make the ball handle a wet/dry a little better. Still better to not use this ball on too heavy of an oil, unless you prefer going more direct.

So taking it to 2000 is worth a try?  Sometimes the ball is great, but it does skid past the breakpoint at my house.  So maybe the duller surface will help grab a little sooner, yet the drilling will allow it to still get length?

Yes, I have found that the ball got through the front just as well at 2000, but as you said, it will read the mids better and help it not skip through the breakpoint.

The first adjustment I tried on mine was 2000 abralon, and it was very good there.

First thought would be take the boat anchor off your foot at 30 and move. or change the surface or drill the fingers to china or give it to me.
