TOTAL INFERNO?
« on: January 02, 2007, 10:48:00 AM »
Wife said I could buy a new ball for my birthday, just not sure if I need one right now. But if I were to pick up the TOTAL INFERNO, where would it fit in my arsenal?

Strike Zone (Abralon Pad to 500)
Pyro (OOB)
ONSLAUGHT (OOB)

I know that it is nmore of a heavy ball then my SZ is OOB, but with the SZ sanded to 500, am I getting the same ball?

BOWLING IS FUN NO MATTER WHAT YOU SCORE. BUT A 300 IS ALWAYS NICE.

STRIKE ZONE, ONSLAUGHT & PYRO. STAND 22 AND THROW 10 OUT TO 5 AND CRUSH THE POCKET. AT LEAST THAT IS THE PLAN OF THE NIGHT...

GOOD LUCK AND GOOD BOWLING!!!

The Total Inferno would sit on top of your entire arsenal. Very good ball too. Just dont freak out if you get a ball with a slightly roughed up surface, double stamped CG, or a Morich sized Pin. All these problems will not effect the balls performance.

Hrm.. see if you put 50ft of heavy oil on a lane.. wether the total or strike zone will work better!

The Total is going to cover more boards, but the Strike Zone is going to handle more oil hands down.. Polished Sym Pearl V. Matte Assym Solid.. no question about it!

Actually, both balls are solids.... I don't belive that either is polished.

Seems to me that BOWL119 could use the Total for the heaviest of oil conditions, then use the Strike Zone for medium heavy... a different look, a different layout. He could probably bring the surface back up to 1500 or so (+ or - 500) to provide a bit more length.

According to the info on the review index of this site, it just saws it's Rough Buff....My bad...

Still could see using this dulled (say to 1000g) and then bringing up the surface on the Strike Zone. Makes sense to me...

I think the grit of the Total is 220 grit with the ruff buff polish, i cant imagin seeing what the total can do without rough buff!

Um yeah the Strike zone will handle more oil then the Total but it would fit well actually Strike zone, Total inferno, Pyro and onslaught would be a good arsenal.

That is why I love BR, so many different opinions on the same ball. Thanks to everyone who replied.

Ok, looking at what everyone here has to say, I must ask another question. With my current arsenal, is there another ball that would work better for me instead of the Total? I am not brand specific, except that I do nto like Ebonite. They do not seem to work well for me. But is there another ball on the market that would fit better in what I already have or would the Total be the best fit?

What Conspirator300 said I believe is right on.

The Strike Zone is a solid  reactive assymetric ball, factory 800 grit wet sand.  The Total comes with rough buff finish.  It is also a very pretty ball.  By the looks of the cover may have a hint of pearl in it?  Does anyone know?

My ball driller has a new Total and it is a big hooking ball on a fresh shot.  But when bowling side by side with him my Strike Zone picks up a lot more oil, although it is less hooking, and less angular on backend. He is a cranker and covers more boards with his Total than I do with my SZ. His buddy was bowling also and had a new Total and is a big cranker, too. They both love the Total.

The cover of the SZ will hold the midlane for me on any shot I have played on, including 39 ft PBA sport shot.  This at 1000 grit wet sand.

I do like how the SZ handles carrydown. A good ball. Both these balls are great, but they are different.

Mark

ps I bowled against two older guys last Thursday who both had new Totals, and they were more low rev, track type players and they both loved the balls also.
