Either of them can tolerate heavy oil, its a matter of drilling and surface prep. The Total oob is 220 and rough buff, the red, 400 and high gloss polish. Neither of these finishes will handle true heavy. 400 to 1000 grit with no compound or polish is probably what you'd need for them to handle heavy.
I personally figure that the Red Zone would be the better heavy oil ball. Being a reactive solid, it should be less squirty. If you want to check into something that is for heavy oob, the blast zone or the fury seem to be the best options in the current product line. You may also think about the mammoth, or the retired (or soon to be) strike zone, scorchin inferno, or Ultimate Inferno
