Tough choice, Strike Zone, Goliath, or another Ambush?
« on: March 22, 2006, 04:49:56 AM »
I need a heavy oil ball.  The Scorchin didn't cut it, and I weakened my Ambush because I thought it was going to.  My Ambush is set up for moderate hook and control on the backends, which it does very well.  I just see a tad more oil than what it can handle sometimes.  I really have to slow down and rev it up to get it to turn over.

I've had a Strike Zone before, and of course I have an Ambush.  I've seen a Goliath thrown, but not many of them.  The SZ appeals to me the most, it hooks a ton and really wheels on the backend.  I like how the Ambush rolls, I think the only problem with the SZ would be getting too snappy on the backends.  I just don't know if the Ambush would hook quite enough, even with the stronger drilling.  There are a couple Goliaths sitting in the shop right now, and the hook potential really appeals to me, but I'm afraid it might be too early and too smooth.  I'm really leaning towards the Strike Zone, but I have an Ambush and Goliath at my fingertips.

I have a violet CZ on the way now (another ebay special, lol) which should fit just a tad above my Ambush.  I'm trading my Scorchin for a Smokin too (not sure where I'm gonna get that to fit, but I'll get it in there somewhere).  Help!

Strike Zone!! I dulled mine to 400, and it's great in the oil. You can shine it and use it on some oil, plus more house conditions. I'd would really lean towards one of those, by my experience, it's a hell of a ball.

I love my Strike Zone in oil.  If you're worried about it being too snappy you could sand the surface to even out the reaction through the lane.

No one who tried the goliath around here liked it.

I would suggest the ultimate, as it is the best oil ball from brunswick, but the sz is close enough.

Went with the Strike Zone, it'll be here Friday.  Thanks for talking me into it, lol, that's the way I wanted to lean all along . .

the strike zone would be more versatile. the goliath is very condition specific.

Well, that's where I want to put my new CZ.  I'll probably end up trying to put the Smokin between the Ambush and CZRP.  Might not go down that far, but if I can get it close to the Ambush, that'd work pretty good.
