Raging Inferno...
« on: January 13, 2005, 05:35:28 AM »
I see a lot of posts about the other Inferno line balls but not a lot on the Raging...Just wanted to add that last night in League I shot a 289 with the raging after using the Big Bully in the first 2 games...it read the lane better for the oil pattern last night and gave me 10 strikes in a row...the Big Bully was getting to the 1-3 pocket but seemed late and left me the 10 pin all night...so I tried to modify my stance and kept getting the same result.  I switched to the raging in the 3rd game because of it's ability to roll earlier and it worked wonders...awesome ball!!!!

Your Big Bully was probably burning up in the heads and was either hitting flat or leaving ringing tens. Really doesn't matter though, the Raging gave you more length and you probably had a sharper angle into the pocket. More energy stored and unleashed at the pins instead of in the heads and mid lane.  Sounds like you made a good move, bet you wish you made it sooner.

You are absolutley 100% correct...I wish I had made the change sooner but I will know for the future...and I can't complain with a 289.  I love both balls but the raging seems to fit my style to a Tee.  Great ball!!

I know the feeling. I can't really use really aggressive non pearl equipment in my home house. I just do not have the speed to get them through the heads and have enough energy to hit strong. Strong reactive pearls work best for me. You should look into getting something along that line. Clean through the front with a hard turn and good carry.

Some days I throw harder than others and some days I am better off with a finesse type of shot or smooth roll to the pocket(Like last night).

That seems to be the issue with the Raging.  When it matches up for someone, it's greater than sliced bread with butter.  When it doesn't, it's worse than a spare ball.  IME the other Infernos seem to be more versatile, although I still have my doubts about the Ultimate.

if you drill this ball to have backend and something to store for the backend this ball is a gem! it is probably the most flippy particle ball from brunswick ever! of all the inferno's it maybe got the least amount of attention.

I think it should get more...this ball performs well...maybe it is my style of throw which is basically a stroker but you can control it really well...add more revs or decrease as well...

I couldn't have said it better. The raging is great WHEN it matches up, but too often it's just like a hunk of plastic. So often, I rarely even bring the ball.
The jury's still out for me on the Ultimate - there hasn't been enough oil in the entire state lately to even bring it out. I just got a new layout on the ball, which should be a lot better, but I haven't even thrown it since I picked it up.

I have yet to see another person bowling in my league in the 2 different places I bowl at with a Raging.  Two guys on my team have the Intense and a bunch have original Infernos and Ultimate...but I am the lone Raging.  Mine was given to me by the Pro at the lanes who said he thought it would fit my style and roll...he has been right...my avergare has gone up 20 pins and my scores are starting to stay in the 200's and now a 289 makes me think it will just get better from here...

No one else has this ball?  Any of the Brunswick guys have any comments?  Experiences?

i shot my first 800 series with the raging inferno. it's drilled basically 4 X 4 with a big balance hole below the midline and at the time was wetsanded 2,000 grit with no polish. it had a great roll and smooth transition down the lane. lately, my house doesn't really have enough oil to use it as the first ball out of the bag. i've dulled it up even more to use when i come across lanes that are slick.
