Jeff, Mrs.Revs asked me to tell you that you have bought enough balls the last couple years, so you are not allowed to try any more.  Next thing you will need is one of those 8 ball rollers, so Sawbones can pick on you for bringing that many balls...

That's great ! She told me the other day..."Jeff, I have no idea what you have and don't have, you could have 20, I don't know".......she's the best. I know you were kidding here , but on a serious note I DON'T like to have a ton of stuff laying around,..I get all nervous ...I am however, in an 'experimental' mode , if-you-will, comparing and contrasting different companies.  My last 2 are Dynothane and Brunswick.........

Seriously, for mediums the Bruiser seems like a good ball...inexpensive, good cover, good core. Thats what I would try, like label lev, polished, nice strong arc.

I'd have to agree, it's kind of what I was thinking to....not sure on the label lev drill though, ...yet, but would be a nice fail-safe, all purpose type drill.

Plus, I've heard great things about the Quantum core , and I know what PK 18 can do....I'm experimenting with a Silver Diamond Buzzsaw as well....WOW...PK 18 is nice!

Thanks !!!

If you can control it, and that could be a big "IF", there is no harder hitting ball anywhere than the original Inferno.

The best general purpose ball is probably either the Bruiser (with that wonderful) Quantum core or the SmashR, which needs to be either polished ever so slightly or made finer than its box surface of 800 (maybe 1000 or 1200) in order to make it "general purpose".

i would get the inferno. i am having probably my best year ever using this ball 90% of the time. i can use it when the lanes are oily by playing down and in and i can swing it on medium conditions. you may have to experiment with several coverstock preps until you find the one that suits you the best. good luck.

Eliminator or Time Zone both condition specific, but great balls

Inferno to cover more conditions

I would look real hard at the Inferno. Most of the time
I can use it all night on fresh conditions.

Mine overlaps with the Silver Streak Pearl a little.
I prefer the Inferno!

I disagree a little with the previous post about the Time Zone being condition specific.  With the pk 18 cover and an asymmetrical weight-block, it has the potential to be a stronger midlane rolling Danger Zone, and I never heard the Danger zone referred to as condition specific... just my opinion though.  I think the Time Zone is one of the most versatile balls they have now, i mean, PK 18, and limitless drill options with the asymmetrical weight block sound extremely appealing to me.

I have to agree about the time zone being condition specific. The one I drilled which was a strong drill worked the best on a short pattern with friction right. Any carry down or longer oil the ball is 60 ft down the lane.

Jeffrey,

I'd go for the Inferno. That is my first Brunswick ball since buying a Zone-Pro Azure a few years back. I am impressed. If you read my review, I hope that it will be convincing enough.

If you do and go out and decide to get yourself an Inferno, remember that the factory finish/core matchup isn't very good, so that means you will have to do some tweaking on the spinner. Mine is down to 1200 grit.

Well, I've received quite a bit of INFERNO recommendations, but I also see that they are mostly surface tweaked.

Wouldn't it be better to wait for the new solid version?

Go with the Bruiser.  I bowled my first 300 with it and have been using it on a fresh medium house shot ever since.  Since getting it mid-November, I have had 5 700's, the 300 game, a couple 279's, and a 289--all with that ball.  Plus my avg has gone up about 5 pins in both leagues.  It has great carry and hits really hard.  Read my review on it because it's a great ball, especially for the price.

I didn't tweak the surface on mine.I have a arc layout on it that makes it less snappy. My wifes on the other hand is tweaked to 600 scotch bright. Her's is a stacked layout so I come to expect it to be touchy.I would look at your layout that you want to use then throw it and see how you like it.I absolutely love mine.It can string the strikes all day when you line up.

Jeff, if your intention is to try a ball from a company you've never used, it makes sense to get the one that most people consider to be their best offering, their "flagship" ball.

In the case of Big B, that ball is the Inferno.  Case closed.

Don't wait, buy.  So you have to tweak the cover, so what?  I don't own a single ball that I haven't tweaked, one way or the other.
