Author Topic: Twisted and Vapor Zone drillings suggestion (Read 1312 times)

Hi,

Picking up a NIB Twisted Fury and Vapor Zone this Saturday, is it a good idea to drill both of them the same?

My Vapor Zone will be a replacement for my Classic Zone; I intend to use the same layout (3.5 x 3.5, pin down), as I've had really good success with this layout with my Classic.

I would like to use my Twisted Fury when the lanes start to break down (med-dry front, small to med carry down), would it be a good idea to drill them the same?

I don't have a lot of 'hand', so most of my balls are drilled pretty strong with good mid-lane read. I'm worried that if I was to drill my TF weaker, it'd not make the turn, hence the same layouts suggestion. (I also want to use my TF in fresh condition as well - not just on broken down lane, kind of a do-it-all ball, just to get a different look form my Vapor Zone)

My driller is pretty good at choosing the right layout for me, but he usually ask me what reaction do I want for the ball, so I just want to educate myself a bit before going to see him Saturday.

You'll love the Vapor and the Twisted as long as you remember where they excel. I leave my Vapor at about 2000 abralon, and my Twisted highly shined so they're very different. I use my shiny Twisted when the lanes are broken down because I've got plenty of equipment to handle more oil (Fury, Blast Zone, Sidewinder) so it's actually about 3-4 boards weaker than my Vapor Zone.

Much of the difference is probably surface differences, but I didn't care for my Vapor shined up as well as I do the Twisted. To answer the layout question, I'd lay them both out strong if you're concerned about them going too long, and adjust the cover on one so you see a bigger contrast. Both of these balls are keepers when used on the right conditions. Good luck.

Charlie, I don't have much hand either and normally need mid-lane help to get the ball rolling. Just wondering how you compare to my profile as I have always needed my balls stronger than say some one that has good axis tile, 17-18 MPH speed and medium to medium high-rev. I've been looking at the Twisted and Pearl Furys as well as if they will work for me and how to drill them and etc.

Thus, the reason for my interest in your profile and the suggestions you receive here in answer to your questions.

Just had a look at your profile, my pap isn't far off of yours. And my balls are drilled similar to yours - mostly pin-down 3 3/8 to 4 from pap. (Mine are mostly Brunswick, as they match up with me better with the great mid-lane, love/loved my Inferno, Ultimate Inferno, Swamp Monster, Zone Classic and even the Power Groove)

I do have above average tilt, and I too need mid-lane help to get the ball rolling properly. I was looking at the Fury Pearl as well, it was either Vapor Zone + Fury Pearl combo or Vapor Zone + Twisted. Decided to go with the Twisted as the Pearl is a bit too similar to Vapor Zone in terms of reaction. Will let you know how I get on!
