What a nice ball the Sidewinder is...
« on: April 21, 2009, 01:56:50 PM »
I have one of the particle hybrids and took it to league with me tonight. Shot 255 in the middle game and was over my average for series.

What a nice little ball this is. When I got mine, I decided since I'd never drilled an aggressive cover really weak, I would try that here. So pin went over the middle, CG went just outside the grip area to the negative side, and I left the cover in box finish.

Tonight at league, I was able to stay with my this ball until the 27th frame. And when I changed, it was to a Visionary Slate Blue Gargoyle -- a urethane pearl. I hope that demonstrates how wide the range of conditions were that I was able to cover.

Not only were the lanes breaking down around me and I wasn't really affected by it, but one of the guys on the team we were bowling has, for years, thrown a White Dot right up 15 at the pocket. Why he won't go with resin, I don't know. He's accurate enough to make it work. But either way, he has the affect of pushing carrydown right into the breakpoint every night (which is one reason why I bet his whole team averages 30 sticks less in their third games every week/year).

So anyway, what a bargain. $68 ball on eBay, and I now have something that I can use on anything from fresh to very broken down to carrydown. Full review coming soon for those that want to read it.

Sidewinder was pretty good, carried decently, and it was pretty versatile

This is one of my favorites of all time...hands down.

I bought this to be smooth off the dry, and boy was it. I gets a fair amount of length, reads the mids well, and has a smooth arcing backend. I haven't had a lot of fantastic games (outside of a couple 3's), but it gives me a consistent reaction that works well on oil and dry alike. Carry is great as well.

I already bought another, and pending approval, I may try to pick up a couple more for reserve. This is a ball I don't want to do without...

I need more revs...and more weight. I mean, 15# is fine, but 135# doesn't do me any favors!!!
