Pin 3 3/8" Up VAL from PAP

Reaction?
I've heard that its just a hard arc on the back.
Any other inputs on what to expect?

While a lot depends on your release characteristics and the oil pattern/amount, based on my use of that ball and the couple of drillings and the 3 or 4 surface changes I used (one 15 lb and one 16 lb), I suspect that sucker will flip like a Banshee, for most people, on medium-light to medium oil and hook the whole lane on lighter oil patterns when used with enough ball speed.

and that's with the Quantum mushroom core which usually smoothes out a coverstock's reaction.

I don't trust layouts where the pin falls on the VAL... Just my $0.02.

I think you should consider move the pin 1" inside the VAL.

i had mine drilled up 4 1/2 was 13 lbs top of 2.5 pin next to the ring ball skid and snapped hard on back end destroyed racks but the Quantum Le is better

I have an old track TKO that is drilled similar, and I agree with this. If you have squeaky backends, it works well and you won't have that over/under that many reactives have. I also like this type of drilling when you want to stay in the track area when everyone else is moving in.

One of the causes of this, well, two, in my opinion, were that, one, people tended to use it on too little oil, figuring it was a pearl with a small amount of flare. It does not act that way. And, two, its surface is or seems ot be much like we have recently (last two years or so) learned that Brunswick finishes thier perals: 400 grit sanding plus non-abrasive finish. This is one the "secrets" (I believe) to their very early rolling balls, pearls or solids.

With this finishing procedure in mind, I changed the surface of mine, sanding it to 800 grit and then applying B'wick's high gloss (non-abrasive) polish. It seems more utilitarian now.

If you leave it the stock finish, just make sure you use it on enough oil. Mine seemed fairly continuous, less hook and set, even with my slower (at times) ball speed.
