Twisted Fury vs. Columbia question
« on: May 05, 2008, 07:55:43 AM »
For those who have experience with both brands, here is my question:

I currently have a Resurgence w/OOB finish and a Rival-shined. I am finding I have too large a gap between these two balls. Would a Twisted Fury fill in that gap or is it more like the Rival? Appreciate any feedback anyone has. Thanks.

The ball can handle the higher side of medium heavy with a surface adjustment. OOB, I find it handles all the ranges of mediums very well.

It's probably the best "house shot" ball that I've ever had in my hands

Get a new ball like a Storm or Brunswick your balls are weak hitting marshmellows.

The basic Twisted Fury is probably EQUIVALENT to the polished Rival. The TF has more options to have slightly more ball reactions than the Rival, due to the asymmetric core.

I have a Twisted Fury, and have played around with the cover a lot. From my experience with mine, I would say it can handle medium"ish" oil at best. There is probably a better option for what you are looking for.

For you, maybe, But why include the rest of the world?
Does everyone else throw the ball exactly the way you do?

I've seen some people use it a lot more than medium oil.

Thanks to everyone but FagGodBowler, who needs to move out of mommy basement. I appreciate the feedback, it appears the TF isn't what I am looking. Which disappoints me a little as I would have liked to have tried it, but I don't want to double up with something I already have. Good Luck to everyone in summer leagues or any tournments you have.

I would go for a Twisted Fury, with a strong drill and take the cover to 2000 abralon

Thanks Brian. My first thought was the Momentum, but it is listed as going longer and not hooking as much as the Rival. So with my Rival shined, figured it would be about the same ball, with just a different shape going down the lane.

As far as the Twisted goes, I thought it was a little stronger ball, seeing the way Parker threw it on TV. Everyone that I have seen do well has the TF in OOB or a shiny cover, not sure what I would get at 2000 abralon. I would like to try one, but I may just wait until the Rival wears out and replace it with the TF.

Hey Dude!

With your ball speed, I might push you away from pearl balls, may go too long in oil, without surface adjustments anyway.

See if Gary has a good deal on the original Fury and shine that, will be longer than the Resurgence but more ball than the Rival.  Lane Master Terminator should fit here as well, not quite as much break point as a straight reactive ball though.  You might also try a Blast Zone, that ball has always looked good to me, would be real nice for you!!

Hope this helps ya big man!!

To charlest:

I did say from my experience with mine. So, therefore, I don't think I'm including anyone else. I was just giving my own opinion.

Mr. Austin, your advice is always welcome. Thanks!
I think i'm going to stay away from the Fury though, have seen too many good and bad with that ball, would hate to be one of the bad. Blast Zone is an interesting thought, and one I had not taken into consideration. As always a fountain of knowledge Mr. Austin.
