Twisted Layout in Bowlers Journal
« on: January 01, 2008, 01:30:23 AM »
In the Dec. issue ball review of the Twisted Fury it stated,"We also compared two like-surfaced Twisteds with the Dual Angle layout option. The 50x3"x20 hooked an average of 3' sooner and 4-5 boards stronger than our 50x3"x80 layout."

The question I have is this a misprint?  It seems to me the 50x3'x80 layout, which puts the pin under the fingers and the mb closer to the val would read earlier than with the 50x3'x20 which puts the pin over the fingers about a 1/2" from the val and the mb close to the thumb. I believe I was doing this right
I was using my pap mesurements 41/2x11/4up.

The reason I`m asking cause I have one on the way and need to figure out how I should drill it for my speed dominate med rev. high tilt release on med to light oil at 36'.
Thanks

Ric, Happy New Year and thanks for the fast reply. I have most of my success with that layout. 41/2 pin puts it on my midline. 2000 ab sounds good.

Does it matter what top wieght I use? I ordered a 2"to3" pin and didn`t specify the top wt.

handy zone,

I used the 4 1/2, pin under layout, MB at 45 and when I tried the ball at 2000 abralon it was great.  I'm not speed dominant, so I put some Bean's Sauce on mine (as of now, anyway)  At 2000 it handled a good amount of oil, yet finished nicely.  Go for it!
